Our Guide To Virtual Orthodontic Exams: What You Need To Know

We want all of our newest patients to feel safe as they become a part of our family during these unprecedented times, which is why we’re offering virtual orthodontic exams!

There’s no denying that many people and parents of young kids have become concerned about initiating an orthodontic treatment process during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the peace of mind of every single one of our patients is something we take very seriously at James Karpac Orthodontics.

We’re going above and beyond with the latest technological advancements to make in-person treatments as safe as possible, and all of our staff are exceeding expectations when it comes to following CDC guidelines. Keeping our patients and our team safe from the virus is our first and foremost concern, and we also want to welcome in new patients during these times in responsible ways via our virtual orthodontic exams.

By utilizing virtual orthodontic exams, we can better ensure that you’re obtaining quality consultations and care while staying at home. All you need is an internet connection and you’re set to get directly in touch with Dr. Karpac and our team who will be able to decipher your best course of action.

Our Virtual Exam Process

The first thing you’ll do when you undergo a virtual orthodontic exam is stipulate whether you’re a new patient, existing patient, or one of our patients currently using retainers.

You’ll then be asked to fill in your contact information so we can reach out to you via email/text to keep the communication as easy as possible when it comes getting the answers you need.

We’ll then ask you to briefly explain why you’ve initiated a virtual exam/consultation, and if you’re a new patient we’ll ask what your top priorities are for your treatment.

The last step will be to either upload your own photos of your teeth, or we’ll text you a link that will direct you to our page where we explain the best way to take these types of pictures. We recommend going through this link so you know exactly what we’re looking for when it comes to these 5 pictures, and we also recommend that you utilize your cell phone because it’s a good wide-angle lens that allows us to see your jaw/teeth alignment properly.

After you send your photos/info, our team will take a look at everything and provide you with the necessary information that you need to continue or initiate your orthodontic treatment.

We’re sure that you’ll find the overall procedure of our virtual orthodontic exams pretty simplified, and we’re more than confident that this continues to help many of our new and existing patients feel safer in terms of getting answers from our team without even leaving home!

What Happens When You Need To Come In?

There will be scenarios in which a patient will undergo a virtual exam and we’ll request that they come into one of our offices for an in-person appointment. This may be necessary when we need to apply braces/Line-M-Up™, make adjustments to existing patients’ appliances, or just get a better look at what’s happening within a patient’s mouth.

But no matter what it is that we’d be requesting an in-person appointment for, you can be rest assured that we’re keeping our facilities as hygienic and safe as possible. We’ve been slowly reopening for a little while now, and we’re consistently ensuring that we’re taking all the necessary steps towards cleanliness and COVID prevention.

We’re asking our patients to not come in too early so you’re minimizing your time in our waiting room, and that you wear a mask upon entering the office. By wearing facial coverings and social distancing, we can better ensure that our patients are doing their due diligence while undergoing treatment and that our team can handle the rest of the preventative measures from there!
